IN MEMORIAM
Patrick Lyman Huff
September 24, 1946 - September 15, 2005
Patrick Lyman Huff was born on September 24, 1946. The second child born to Andrew and Katherine Huff.
At a very early age he learned that family was important and he valued his roots. As part of a military family, during his childhood he moved several times. In his teen years, his family moved back to Hillsboro, Oregon, and settled the house they built on 8th Street.
In 1965 he graduated from Hillsboro Union High School. With the war in Vietnam, he soon found himself in the military. He served with honor and was awarded the Purple Heart.
In 1968 he married a girl named Charlotte. The marriage didn't last. In 1970 he married Barbara. Three years later, it ended in divorce. In 1973 he married Neleen Layman. And a year later, his pride and joy was born in a daughter named Racheal. Sadly, the couple divorced but remained friends. In 1986 he met Eric and found his partner for life.
Patrick had many talents. He was an actor in local theaters, a tailor and quilt maker and loved wearing bright clothes. He also loved to sing and had an infectious laugh. He loved the Pacific Northwest but also cacti and palm trees. He was facinated with ancient Egypt and the Civil War. He loved movies and listened to Hawaiian and 50's music. He loved "adventures" (traveling). In his professional life he was a cab driver, parking attendant and a retired nurse.
Patrick's joy increased when his daughter married and it blossomed with the birth of his grandchildren: Elaine and then Andrew. Pat was well on his way to being one of the best grandfathers of all time.
Sadly, on the morning of September 15, 2005, while vacationing, Patrick suffered a heart attacked and died and with him, our laughter. He was buried in Fir Lawn Cemetery in Hillsboro, Oregon.
