Award winning, Pacific Northwest author, James M. McCracken is best known for his young reader series inspired by his teen years spent in a seminary boarding school. The series, Charlie MacCready, follows the young lad as he solves one mystery after another while trying to solve his biggest mystery of all, his missing parents.
His first venture into the sci-fi genre, AWAKE, has been awarded the NIWA Seal of Quality. AWAKE is a new twist on the apocalypse and follows Timothy Stone as he navigates the changed world.
McCracken was raised for the most part in Hillsboro, Oregon. He retired from his day job at age 42 and moved to the high desert of Central Oregon to pursue his writing. He is a longtime member and the current president of the Northwest Independent Writers Association (NIWA).
