IN MEMORIAM
Dean Eldon Peckham
September 22, 1930 - August 14, 1955
Dean Eldon was born on September 22, 1930 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was the 4th and youngest child of Lloyd Robert and Elizabeth Ann (Faust) Peckham. By 1940 the family relocated to Washington County, Oregon (south of Forest Grove).
On February 9, 1950, against the wishes of her parents, Dean married Agnes Louise Huff in Vancouver, Washington. The couple settled in Hillsboro. A year later they welcomed their first daughter, Theresa.
Dean enjoyed working on cars and racing them off-road, a past-time Agnes enjoyed as well.
In 1955, Agnes became pregnant with their second child. However, on August 14th, Dean was riding as a passenger on his friend's motorcycle heading toward Hillsboro when a truck in the oncoming lane started to pass a slower car. The truck hit the motorcycle head on, launching Dean into the air. He struck the power line and was killed instantly. His parents who were following him witnessed the whole scene.
Dean was buried in Forest Grove Cemetery never to know of his second daughter born four months later.
