I began crocheting afghans in 1980. My mother had made me an afghan when I was in high school. However, by 1980, the afghan was beginning to show signs of wear. So, I asked a gal I worked with if she would make me an afghan if I paid her. She said, "No, but I will teach you how to crochet."
That was all it took. I was hooked from the very first one. I began making afghans for my siblings and then for my nieces and nephews. After a while, my nephews began referring to them as their "Uncle Jamie Blankets". I loved the name and it stuck. I am now making afghans for my great and great-great nieces and nephews.
When people see me crocheting they ask if I sell them. I have in the past, so I said sure.
Now I have begun a new page on my website devoted to my "Uncle Jamie Blankets." I will add more designs as I as I make them.
