Well, it seems as though it has been a long time coming. I must admit, I was pretty stoked when fairly quickly a producer/narrator agreed to record my short-story "Running". However, it soon turned from excitement to disappointment when he disappeared off the face of the earth.
So, I was back to the drawing board.
Then about a month ago I received an offer from a new producer/narrator. I listened to his audition recording and was impressed right away. He seemed to have grasped the emotion and essence of the story (plus he pronounced Willamette correctly). I loved his voice and it fit the character well. So, once again I was back on track to have "Running" made into an audiobook.
This past week, I am pleased to say, the producer, Matt Braver, completed his recording of "Running". I listened to it and as crazy as it sounds, was near tears a couple of times during his reading - and I WROTE the story and knew what was coming! It was excellent. I approved the recording and submitted it to ACX for technical quality review.
Now I wait to hear back from ACX to see if the quality of the recording meets their standards. If all goes well, in just two short weeks (which feels like eons) it will be released.
This experience has been a roller-coaster ride but the end result, Matt Braver's recording, makes it all worthwhile. I will keep you posted as to when "Running" the Audiobook will be released.
