No one ever told me that turning 55 is going to be a pain in the backside. That's right. I am having a colonoscopy. Five years ago I was scheduled to have one but ended up in the hospital with blood clots in my head instead. It was discovered that my blood clots too quickly. So, now I take blood thinners. That adds a little more complication to the upcoming procedure.
As I found out, I have to go off the Warfarin pills for 5 days but since I'm prone to blood clots in my head, I have to have shots in the stomach instead. These shots feel like a bee sting and leave a bruise about the size of a baseball. I have to have one a day for 8-10 days. My poor stomach not to mention the other part of me.
I'm actually okay with all of it. Getting a Colonoscopy is smart. Especially if you have a family history of colon cancer like I do. Caught early, I understand, colon cancer is treatable. But I'm hoping for a clean bill of health. (Although, I still think I should get at least flowers and candy or dinner and a movie first!)
