Subsequently I made a set of secondary goals: Write and publish STUMPTOWN, my second venture into writing a thriller novel; and write and publish the 4th installment in the CHARLIE MACCREADY series.
I'm happy to report that STUMPTOWN is currently being edited and will be released later this month. In the meantime, I've already returned to working on CHARLIE MACCREADY: The Missing Statue. With 84 pages and 24k words, I'm already well on my way with this young reader mystery/adventure.
This year has seen a real boost in my writing. With soon-to-be three new novels out and another in the works with a projected release of September, it is proving to be a good year. Part of it is disciplining myself. I have set a schedule of writing everyday from the time I get up in the morning until noon. Some days I've even worked beyond the noon quitting time but sticking to the routine has produced results.
So, what I would pass on to other aspiring authors is to set a goal, then make a schedule on how to achieve it. Don't become discouraged if days slip by and you are sidetracked by unexpected surprises. Life does that to all of us. Hang in there and start again. In time it will get easier.
